Wedding Ideas

There is always the question when planning a wedding of what to buy for bridesmaid gifts. My latest project will give you one idea for what to buy. Just recently I had someone ask me to monogram some bags for their bridesmaids and flower girls. I really enjoyed doing these!

The bride bought the bags at a store in town for $5 each and then I added the personal touch and she ended up with the perfect gift for each lady! So next time you need a inexpensive gift for a wedding, birthday or any special occasion go buy a bag and add that personal touch to it!

FABULOUS FRIEND FRIDAY

Hello Everyone and welcome to FABULOUS FRIEND FRIDAY!!!! I am so excited about this feature on my blog! Every Friday I will spotlight a fabulous person that you can get to know. My goal for fabulous friend Friday is to provide networking opportunities that will give you the chance to see the resources that are just a click away. So lets get started!!!

My first FABULOUS FRIEND IS.......
Drum roll please.....................

TAMMY COBB ADAMS

Tammy is my wonderful mom! I am thrilled to feature my mom because she is such an amazing woman!!! She has always been a career woman and has worked so hard at everything she has done. She just recently retired a year ago and has been pursuing lots of different things. One thing she has done is remodel bits and pieces of her house. In the pursuit of painting, switching out lights, and fixtures she also made pillows for the beds and curtains for the windows. She is VERY good at decorating and is always a MARVELOUS hostess!! She is truly a Southern Lady! What I want to call your attention to are some of the pillows she made to sale in an antique mall. She sold these pillows for $10-$20.

(For some reason the color of the fabric did not transfer well. Everything looks brown. Sorry!)

The pictures really don't do my mom's work justice but just trust me they are great! She just uses scrap material she has to make her pillows! If anyone needs any pillows Tammy is your lady! She can make you some or teach you how to make your own. Leave a comment and I will get you in touch with her.

Her next big thing is painting class. She is also an excellent artist. She has started taking a painting class about two weeks ago. I can't wait to see her first piece. I will share it with you if she will let me!

Thanks for being a part of my FABULOUS FRIEND FRIDAY!
Join me next week to see who will be featured!
Have a great weekend!

Applique Is Lots Of Fun

One of my favorite projects is using applique. If you are not familiar with this term, it is a cutout decoration fastened to a larger piece of material. I will show you some examples in a moment. This is a lot of fun because it brings your design to life. It gives it more personality and gives it a more festive look. It allows you to bring an outfit together, match decor and many other things. I have used it for bags, shirts, baby items(bibs, burp cloths, etc), nap mats, kitchen towels, and few other things. The pictures I have to share are of t-shirt designs and bibs.

Marvelous Monday

Marvelous Monday!!!!????? Mondays are not my most favorite day of the week!! Mondays are always the day that the mountain of laundry is climbed and chiseled away, groceries are bought and the week organized. It's the day that everyone is down because daddy had to go back to work after a fun weekend together and everyone is dragging from a busy day at church the day before! All in all Monday is not usually marvelous but what I have to show you is marvelous and fun!

My family lives in a little town in South Alabama. It is called Opp, Alabama. Yup, that's right OPP!! It is a GREAT little town that I love dearly. My dad is the hometown banker, my mom runs a little business, my granny is a real estate agent, my pop takes care of our cows and his farm, my aunt and cousin are teachers in the local public schools, my uncle was until recently the town mechanic, my cousin's husband works with his family business running a truck line, and their kids are in middle school and high school and my grandmother is the town servant at the age of 90. My husband and I with our two kids live 800+ away from them so we miss out on the hustle and bustle of small town life in Opp...but it is life that I will always treasure! There is a little gem hidden in a little metal building in the middle of town in the big metropolis of Opp. It is T&C Pharmacy and inside this Pharmacy is a little fabric store which is not so little anymore!
It is one of THE best fabric stores I have been in and I have lived in Montgomery, Birmingham , Raleigh, and now Fort Worth and have seen a lot. This store has everything you could ever need in fabric! They have great ideas and accessories for any sewing job! They now have an online store so those of you who will never be privileged to visit the town of Opp, Alabama can ordered directly. Like I said this is MARVELOUS!!! Every time I go home I try to at least visit the store and check out what's new. I have bought a lot of fabric from this great little place and it is wonderful fabric!!! Check out their website and come back and tell me what you think! I would love to hear your comments.

It's the thought that counts!

When you look up the word "professional" you will not find my name! I love to try new things and dabble in a lot of things. I wish I could say that everything I make turns out perfectly but I just need to keep dreaming. It's always fun for me to make gifts for my friends and I want to share with you a couple of those gifts. Just keep in mind that my name is not "professional"!

The first gift I made was a bag for a baby named Anna! This is my friend Matia's first baby and we are so excited for her. The bag has six outside pockets which I love because I am an organized freak! I used an applique font to match the outside fabric. Matia was so excited because she has not received a bag yet or bought a diaper bag yet. I was pleased with how it turned out. Check it out...

 BACK

The next gift I made was a summer dress for my sweet friend Shelley and her new baby, Julia. I love making this dress! I have also made one of these dresses for my little girl, SaraKate. I just hope Julia can wear hers this summer! She is the cutest little red head you have ever seen!

The last gift for today is a little lovey-taggie blanket for another great friend, Amanda and her baby Noah. I made a full size blanket out of the same material for Amanda's sister's baby (without the ribbon) and thought it would be fun to use the same for Noah. I love seersucker fabric and use it as much as possible.  For the back of the lovey I used a real soft, ribbed minky type fabric. Noah is also a very cute little baby and I hope that he enjoys playing with his lovey!

All of these gifts are fun to make and possible for anyone who wants to learn. Remember to make your next gift personal regardless if your name appears under professional! It's the thought that counts!

Embroidery Ideas

It's always so fun to receive a personalized gift with your name or your child's name. Everyone likes to add that extra special touch to something plain to make it POP! Every so often I will post different items I have monogrammed so you can catch some inspiration. Maybe you need inspiration for things you own or maybe you need ideas to give as gifts. Here is are some pictures of my most recent activity.

This is a bag that a friend found at a thrift store and wanted to personalize it with her new baby's initial on it. Very cute and inexpensive!
